The Laser is one of the most popular single-handed dinghies in the world. As of 2018, there are more than 215,000 boats worldwide. The Laser's popularity is due to it's robust and simple rig, its speed, and its variety in sail plan, allowing sailors of varied weights to compete. The Laser also provides very competitive racing due to the very tight class association controls which eliminate differences in hull, sails and equipment. It is an Olympic-class boat, so you'll find Laser sailors of all kind going from casual sailors to racers of the highest caliber.
