Learn to sail in the beautiful Tauranga Harbour with excellent weather and sailing conditions. Our courses follow the Yachting New Zealand Learn to Sail course guidelines. No experience necessary, but you should be able to swim 50 metres confidently to learn to sail. Join the fun!
ADULT LEVEL 1 LEARN TO SAIL DINGHY COURSE
Course description: The Learn to Sail Course is a introduction to the exciting sport of sailing. Suitable for all ages 16 years and up, it takes place on Saturday or Sunday mornings. You will learn the essential skills including helming, tacking, gybing, sailing upwind and downwind, launching and landing, and how to rig and de-rig your dinghy. By the end of the course you will be able to sail on all points of sail in light to medium breeze. The course includes short interactive theory sessions to ensure that you have all the background knowledge needed to sail safely and get the most out of the course.
2020 Term 4 dates:
Starts October 10th/11th and finishes November 7th/8th.

The Learn to sail course costs $370 each for 5 sessions, all the equipment, boats and life jacket provided.
10% off of the second booking for group bookings. This includes the second person in a family, or friends. 15% discount for TYPBC club members. Only one discount can apply at a time.
ADULT LEVEL 2 DINGHY COURSE
Course description: This course is suitable for sailors that have completed their Level 1 course. It is also good for those sailors that want to do a refresher course. Suitable for all ages 16 years and up, it takes place on Thursday afternoons at TYPBC. By the end of the course you will be able to sail on all points of sail in a variety of different sailing conditions from light to strong winds. You will learn how to work with the sail controls and improve your speed, boat handling, maneuvers and rigging skills. The course includes more destination sailing around Tauranga Harbour to give you a good look at the popular places to sail locally.
