Term Sailing

Our term race coaching takes place after school. The sailors will be learning valuable racing skills and techniques to compete at the highest level. They will be trained for national and international regattas by our professional coaches. If you are interested in what our program looks like, you are welcome to come down during a training session and watch us from the beach.

• Optimist term sailing takes place of Tuesdays​.

• P-Class/O'Pen Bic/Starling term sailing takes place on Thursdays.

• All sailors should be rigged and ready by 4:00 pm. We will be off the water by 7:00.

Holiday Programs

The Holiday program is during the week from 9 am - 3:30 pm each day from Monday to Friday. Our race program holds an intense week-long clinic that focuses on fitness, boat skills, and any other techniques that might benefit from focused, small numbers training.

Acquiring a Boat

Our race programs require use of a personal boat. High level sailing techniques benefit from the knowledge gained by sailing consistently on the same boat. Boat charters are an affordable alternative to purchasing - your first point of inquiry for charters should be the Bay of Plenty Sailing Academic Trust. For advice or help on purchasing a boat, you should either contact the Head Coach or a class rep - listed at the bottom of this page. Carefully maintained racing dinghies are often resold for close to or equal what they are purchased for, making them generally the best investment in the long term.
